The science of Activeion

The science that now frees you from chemicals has been used for decades in the food processing, industrial technology, and health-related industries. We’ve just taken the technology and integrated it into a sprayer for the cleaning industry.

1. Charging
A water cell applies a slight electrical charge to the tap water.

2. Transforming
The charged water passes through an ion exchange membrane, creating an oxygen-rich mixture of positive and negative nano-bubbles.

3. Cleaning
The activated water now attracts dirt like a magnet and lifts it from the surface, enabling it to be easily wiped away.

The Haskins Company, Inc...

"the man or the woman who doesn't accomplish anything doesn't get much out of life.  Most men will make good if they find the work they are happy in doing."  ~Harvey S. Firestone

It was the love of the wholesale janitorial supply distribution business that engaged Roland Haskins to embark on his own career.  Roland and his wife Caroline created The Haskins Company, Inc. on November 7, 1994.  With the enthusiasm of friends and family, they reveled in the opportunity to bring to Augusta a wholesale distributor with imagination and integrity mutually benificial for both the customer and their company.  The Haskins Company seriously considers the genuine interest of their customers aspirations, needs and problems.

From our first customer, a meat processing plant, to our existing 400 plus clients in Augusta, Savannah and surrounding areas, we have evolved into a complete distribution company covering all aspects of sanitary & facility maintenance, paper, plastic, disposable food service and packaging supplies.

Our success is due not only to our devoted customers but also our loyal employees.  Our dedicated staff embrace our ideals and goals.  In 2001, Brian Haskins joined the company and currently serves as Chief Operations Officer.  With a Master's Degree from the University of Georgia, his youthful insight and implementation of modern technology has established efficient day to day operations allowing us to best serve our customers.  His individualism and our employee's dedication, coupled with Roland and Carol's 30 years of industry experience, make this a unique combination to our marketplace.

The Haskins Company relys on the originality of past experiences to develop and support innovative programs for our industry. These programs are evident in the creation of the GreenARC-Advisory Resource Center, the establishment of our unique Sustainability Assesment Process and eco2SMART Continuum.  Our Mission, Vision, Core Values and Sustainability Commitment focus on our goal of ultimate customer service and consultation. These processes along with our vendor partnerships allow us to assit our customers in providing a safer and more chemical free environment for work, life and play.

"the only foundation of a real business is service...A supplier is not through with his customer when the sale is completed.  He has then only started with his customer."  ~Henry Ford

The Haskins Company, Inc. has enjoyed the first fifteen years of business and are more excited than ever about our future and those that share it with us.  We truly exemplify the dream of America's small business institution.

In Faith, Optimism and Gratitude,

Roland & Caroline Haskins

What is Swine Flu?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Swine Influenza Virus (SIV) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by an Influenza virus. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.  It is an Influenza A virus (H1N1 strain).

How is Swine Flu transmitted among humans?
According to the CDC, Influenza viruses are spread in respiratory droplets caused by coughing and sneezing. These Flu viruses usually spread from person-to-person, though sometimes people become infected by touching a surface that has a Flu virus on it and then touching their nose or mouth.

Major health organizations, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Public Health Agency of Canada agree that hand washing and hand sanitizing with an alcohol-based hand rub are especially critical to minimize the spread of germs during times of illness outbreak.

The CDC recommends:

- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze
- Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze
- Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective
- Try to avoid close contact with sick people
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth -- germs spread that way

If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.

What other precautions should be taken?
- According to the CDC, Standard Precautions and Droplet Precautions are appropriate.
- Standard Precautions are "designed to reduce the risk of transmission of microorganisms from both recognized and unrecognized sources of infections in hospitals"
- Droplet Precautions are applicable for pathogens that can be transmitted by droplets released during coughing, sneezing or talking.
- Disinfecting Environmental Surfaces: a facility should frequently clean and disinfect (utilizing an EPA approved, hospital grade disinfectant) all frequently touched surfaces (light switches, door knobs, hand rails, etc.) and all rest rooms surfaces and fixtures.  The EPA has also posted information on their web site that they believe the currently registered influenza A virus products will be effective against the 2009-H1N1 flu strain and other influenza A virus strains on hard, non-porous surfaces.

The Haskins Company offers many products and programs to help you meet CDC recommendations to help facilities reduce the spread of germs, such as:   A Hand Hygiene Program for elementary schools (including  "Wash Your Hands" and  "Sanitize Your Hands" posters), Touch Free foam and lotion soaps, hand sanitizers, disinfectants and bathroom cleaners.
